Safety is non-negotiable at Sigma, and we are committed to achieving the highest global standards to prevent fatalities and injuries. We strive to build a culture where safety and wellbeing are embedded at every level of the organisation. By doing so, we aim to reduce accidents, minimise operational disruptions and costs, and enhance overall productivity.
We combine formal training and development with daily safety briefings and on-site awareness campaigns to reinforce a strong safety culture. Our goal is to ensure that every team member takes full responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those around them. No aspect of our operations is more important than maintaining a safe working environment, and this responsibility is shared by everyone at Sigma. Safety performance is a key component of monthly employee evaluations, with recognition given to those who demonstrate strong safety awareness and practices. It is also a primary key performance indicator in determining bonus awards for Executive Directors.
At Sigma, we ensure full compliance with statutory requirements as outlined in the Kenya Occupational Safety and Health Act (2007). Compliance is verified through annual inspections conducted by the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS).
We also recognise the importance of preparedness for emergency situations. Our specialised Emergency Response Team (ERT) is highly trained and fully equipped to respond effectively to incidents. In addition, Sigma has established an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and an Emergency Crisis Management Plan (ECMP), which provide clear guidance on how to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
